So JJ Abrams is shooting this in straight IMAX 70MM, like Chris Nolan does, with no 3D added and with focus on film.
Thank god, that's awesome, 3D can be okay but I'm glad they are going with that format as I've always loved it (Dark Knight was awesome in IMAX and so was Cloverfield) and I think that format is perfect for Star Wars.

What's really cool is they shot some scenes on oldschool super 38MM and they are using editing effects to give the film the feel that the whole thing is shot on super 38 just like the original trilogy was.
That's fucking great how oldschool Abrams is going on this. Perfect, no fucking 3D for Star Wars (though the other Star Wars directors probably won't do this and some of them will probably go the 3D route, still, based JJ Abrams)

I also love how they're using practical effects and stages and models, cause there was that leak showing Millenium Falcon and X-wing models.
Obviously the film is still going to be CGI heavy, and Andy Serkis has confirmed that he's helping with mocapping, but godbless JJ for incorporating that oldschool shit in there. This movie will be based.

haha another person from Game Of Thrones just got cast in Episode 7: the sword trainer from Season 1.
Want to start seeing casting announcements for the spinoff. Also a title for Episode 7 would be nice.

So the newest rumor about the plot of this is that the main villain is Luke Skywalker Probably bullshit but I think that would be cool. There were a bunch of signs in Return of the Jedi that he was headed down that path. |
