Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, The Last Man on Earth) officially directing the second Anthology movie, Star Was Anthology: Han Solo. Lawrence Kasdan (Force Awakens, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Raiders of the Lost Ark) and his son (Freaks and Geeks) wrote the screenplay which focuses on young Han Solo becoming who he is. www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/457417-the-lego-movie-directors-to-helm-han-solo-spin-off-movieWell we knew it was coming.

I will say I'm glad they have Kasdan helping make these. It makes these feel more connected to the original movies when you have a screenwriter who worked on them.
I have a feeling the ones Kasdan helps write will appear significantly better than the others.

There's a rumor that two of the other anthology movies in preproduction are a Boba Fett solo film and an Obi Wan Kenobi solo film
So far all these anthology movies take place between III and IV...which is when that tv series Lucas wanted to make and supposedly wrote the scripts for was supposed to take place.
Should have just made that tv series instead of the twenty movies that are going to be coming now. Fucking Disney.

Whoa the kenobi film is about to be confirmed and is going to star ewan mcgregor and possibly directed by the guy that did The Rover, might be out before the Han Solo film.
If they really do get The Rover guy that movie could be ridiculously based. We'll see.

honestly out of all of the anthology movies, Rogue One seems like it will be the most shit to me. And it's the first one.
Doesn't help that the screenwriters are both terrible (ones the about a boy guy, the other is the fucking guy who wrote book of eli) and that the Godzilla director guy kinda sucks, nor does it help that they stole the plot from the Dark Forces games. Nor does it help that the cast is straight out of an IFC movie (Felicity Jones and the fucking poor dude from Nightcrawler? Really?). At least the spinoff movies seem like they actually have a point to them.

So fucking glad they went with practical effects, following the examples of great recent movies that used a lot of practical effects like Mad Max: Fury Road. You don't have to do away with CGI altogether (this movie will still obviously have a lot of CGI I mean fuck you got Andy Serkis and the chick from 12 years playing CGI characters) but a certain amount of practical effects just makes everything feel more real and makes the actors job easier to interact with shit.
That I think is going to be the biggest difference between this and the prequels. The prequels overuse of CGI made it look like a cartoon. The final battle of Phantom Menace looks like a PS2 game cutscene.
Movies like Avatar and the Hobbit movies tried to take CGI forward but just seemed even more fake to me. I am also superglad they shot this on IMAX film like Interstellar. Interstellar wasn't a great movie but it was fucking cool to watch in IMAX. This will be in IMAX film 3D, which is the first film to ever do 3D and actual film in a while, but the first film to do IMAX 3D film ever. Fuck yeah.

Benicio Del Toro is the first person cast in Episode 8, supposedly as the villain or at least a villain.
I'd complain about having marvel actors in Muh Star Wars, but Del Toro is pretty good. I like him in Traffic, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Usual Suspects.

EPISODE 7 OPENING RUMOR: Kylo Ren goes to Endor and slaughters all the Ewoks as a test for his master. Sounds ridiculous, why not have him kill Jar Jar Binks while they are at it

Not really surprised though IF it is true, we know from Lost that JJ Abrams hates the Ewoks
