I love Irrational Games.
A studio that still cares about STORY in games and refuses to do non-playable cutscenes.
I also obviously love the references to Pynchon, and Lovecraft, and Rand and George Orwell because I'm a nerd.

Ken Levine interview: "A lot of game studios look to movies for their presentation. I think there's some things games can learn from cinema--how to present dramatic moments, how to pace, how to make good use of a fully created audio and visual experience. But I think games are closer to books in how the audience experiences them, so when I write I try to fully look for all the possibilities of each action, and I look for game writers who come from literary backgrounds."

It's all good though, I go to school by there so when it comes out I'll be close by.

SO, this game.
IT's incredibly oldschool and I support them fully for doing that. By oldschool, I mean it's incredibly linear, story based, there are no cutscenes (thank you based Irrational), and you don't get to kill anyone until almost two hours into the game. You can also unlock 1999/System Shock mode without beating the game by inserting the Konami Code.
The story is also really good. There are some touchy topics in this like racism and religion and they don't seem afraid to show them in the game at all which is really refreshing for a big budget game like this. THey stole alot from Thomas Pynchon's book Against The Day and I was wondering if Pynchon might try to sue them because he notoriously hates adaptations of his work, but then I found out Pynchon signed off on it because he was a fan of the first Bioshock. Awesome.
The vigors you can get are amazing. One of them allows you to take control of machines, and then an upgrade to that vigor allows you to take control of AI. It is so fun watching the AI beat themselves to death with a baseball bat.
The skyhook scenes are amazing and something I want to try on one of Ben's screens because the mechanics of it are awesome. And I love jumping down from a skyhook and killing people and watching them fall off ledges.
Elizabeth is a sweet AI and one of the best female characters ever in a videogame is not top 5. I'm afraid this game is going to have a super unhappy ending though, lol.
Ben, Oetzel and Phil wanted to see this game but I accidently left it at my house last night, lol.
