crappy superhero movies will continue to get made and great mafia movies and westerns are a thing of the past. Watching Fantastic Four reminded me of this and depressed the shit out of me.
Based westerns and mafia movies will never come back. I mean how many people watched A Most Violent Year or Slow West?

i think i brought this up once to oetzel, that i wanted to see more gangster/mafia movies and he said something like "they are all the same"
literally every superhero movie is the same. They all follow the same fucking formula.

I agree on tue superhero movie thing 1 million percent. But if you break down the formulas for evry movie type(comedy for example) they're bound to follow the same basic formula, that's the same for every movie type/genre there is. To avoid it you'd have to have a director who knows what's he/she isndoing and can avoid going down the path of following the basic formula. Im sure it can be done but it'll be extremely difficult

exactly that's why good superhero movies like say Chris Nolan's Batman films, or James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy, they follow the formula but do something different with it.
