The only way this will work is if the script is half as good as the original.
I only have a little bit of hope for this because apparently the Rock is a huge fan of the original, and pitched the idea himself to Fox. He also apparently wants to direct the film himself, or at least choose the director. I'd rather Carpenter came back but that probably won't happen.
The Rock just isn't Jack Burton though. Jack Burton is a different kind of badass than the Rock.
