This is the closest I have to a blog and nobody will read this anyway, but I want to rant about why I don't care that much that Sun Prairie is getting a movie theatre.
Yes there are a few pros. The most obvious being there will be a theatre closer to us. That's good. Another pro is that it will be a cleaner theatre than Eastgate and will have a restaurant and a bar and stuff.
But why do I, a cinephile, not care? Because they are still going to be playing the same movies that Marcus Eastgate plays. I'm still going to have to drive to Sundance when the next Raid film comes out. And there still isn't an Imax anywhere near us, so if I want to see a movie in Imax I'm still going to have to drive forever.
This weekend, a movie is coming out called "It Follows" that I really want to see. Is it playing at Eastgate? Hell no. And it's not pretentious enough to play at Sundance, since it's a horror movie. That leaves me high and dry.
When Ex Machina comes out, another movie that I'm really looking forward to, do you really think it will be playing anywhere near us?
Remember when we wanted to see Stoker, but we couldn't and it only played for one week? That shit is going to continue to happen.
TL;DR Sun Prairie Theatre doesn't change shit still can't watch my weirdo movies in theatres

And maybe I'll end up pirating these movies, but they are movies I'm looking forward to and I'd really like to give the filmmakers money but that's kind of hard to do when I don't have the option.
