The trailer makes this seem really generic but funny, but if you know anything about Matthew Weiner you know there's no way it is as generic as the trailer makes it look:

yeah its a generic plot but you can already tell he kept his great writing style from mad men
The lines about friendship, the justice system and teenage boys are all gold. I think this is just a poorly edited trailer.
